Tommy Soderstrom believes Lucas Bergvall is a better player right now than Dejan Kulusevski was at his age.

Lucas Bergvall will be joining Tottenham Hotspur ahead of next season. The teenager was one of the most sought-after players at the start of the year. Multiple top clubs were after his signature but Spurs managed to come out on top in the race.

They reached an agreement with Djurgården back in February for the services of the midfield sensation who is considered a huge prospect. Bergvall came up the ranks at Brommapojkarna before making the move to Djurgården at the start of 2023.

Tommy Soderstrom who is the head of youth and recruiting at the teenager’s former club rates him quite highly. The former Manchester United scout believes Bergvall is a better player now than Tottenham starter Dejan Kulusevski at 18.

Soderstrom said to Football London: “Anders Limpar is the best player we’ve produced. The highest level in Europe is very difficult. Dejan Kulusevski is a very good player, but Lucas Bergvall is much better than Limpar and Kulusevski were at that age. They are very good but I think Lucas in the future can be very, very good”.

Kulusevski was a part of the Brommapojkarna youth team back in the day. He has gone from strength to strength since leaving the club. The winger has established himself in the national team and he has been a consistent performer for the North London club since joining them from Juventus.

The fact that Soderstrom feels Bergvall is much better than the Swedish international was as a teenager suggests that Tottenham have managed to secure the services of an exceptional talent. Given the kind of potential he has, Bergvall could do wonders for them in the long run.
