Who Will Can Astros Expect to Be Their Top Prospect Come 2025?
USA TODAY Sports

MLB.com updated their prospect ratings and put out their rankings of every team's pipeline rankings to reflect the changes. Just like it's been the past couple years, the Houston Astros were ranked at the bottom of all teams in the league.

Their seemingly weak pipeline hasn't affected their major league team as they've continued to dominate the regular season and cruise in the playoffs. They also have three rookies in the mix for Rookie of the Year this season as well.

In conjunction with the new ratings, MLB.com is also projecting who the best prospects will be in every team's organization in 2025.

For the Astros, the three writers of the article picked outfielder Jacob Melton to be the number one prospect. He currently is rated number one after the organization traded away their two best prospects at the deadline this season.

Melton is a talented 22-year-old player who is projected to be a plus at both the plate and in the field.

MLB.com wrote, "The Astros considered Melton with their 2022 first-round pick and were delighted to find the Oregon State star still available with their second-rounder. He has the potential for solid tools across the board and is hitting .249/.344/.471 with 18 homers and 40 steals in 82 High-A games."

He'll make the leap to higher levels of the minor leagues next year in his third season of professional baseball. With Houston's outfield full of young players for the foreseeable future, the lefty will be able to develop as much as possible in the coming years.
